Update on Rehab Appt...?

well, I went to this appt not really thinking straight... not knowing what to expect and I wasn't ready for all the questions.  It was like seeing a new Neuro..all the questions, history etc.  I didn't have thing written down and my hubby did not come with me,  But I answered what I could and I'm sure he could tell I didn't know how to answer some of them.  He did the Neuro testing and other movement stuff too.  Then asked me to walk down the hallway quite abit and watched me.

he asked me when I had my last blood tests done.. I said last year.  He wants me to have them redone.  I had anemia last year... and monoclonal bands in my blood, also Granulomas in my bone marrow on the Bone Marrow test I had done a few years ago.

I will be getting the blood tests done, I ask what he thought of my walking etc ..  He said he has no answers for me.... only that it Neurological, and wants to see the blood results.  He wants me to come back in a few weeks to see him and to bring my husband with me.  I said why bring my husband.  He said to ask him what he thinks.

I told him what my husband thinks, that he would like me to find out what is wrong and have some sort of answers and treatment.  He still wants to see him on the next visit.   So, now I feel like I'm back to the beginning??  So, does my husband.  I'm not sure how to feel... but will not think to much about it and just get these tests done and go back in a few week.

hope all is as well as can be..

Hi there, it's Maggie.  I know we spoke a long time ago and since then nothing has happened with doctors.  I still have not been dx.  I still have the symptoms of MS.  The leg pains.  Cannot walk to long or painful walking.  I am getting very fed up of the way this system is run.  It really *****.  No one can help.  I  hope you got further than I.  Maggie.

I can understand your concern about the instructions to bring your husband along.  My first neuro (nicknamed, "Dr. Jerky" by me) pretty much only asked my husband questions when I brought him along.  Dr. J didn't listen to my answers, but instead wrote down any conflicts between what I said and what my husband said (even though he's NOTORIOUS for not paying attention to details!)  BUT, it sounds like this dr. has your best interests at heart, so far.  So go ahead and bring your husband.  It could be useful.

I sympathize with not wanting to start all over again, but, like others have said, maybe a fresh pair of eyes will see things clearly.  When do you go back to see him?

It is like starting over, over and over again, isn't it? All I can say is...take a deep breath, let this fella look at things, see what he comes up with. The worst he can say, I guess, at this point is, "I can't figure it out."

I also agree with Lu...he's already come out and said "neurological problem." That rather narrows things down a bit.

thanks everyone...the Dr is a MD and specialist in Rehab and other letters behind his name?  I didn't see Neuro on his card though..but he works with MS clients.

I'll not be discouraged I will just keep on going...

It certainly is frustrating to keep doing the same thing over and over and over.  But remember only you have done this before - this doctor is only doing this for the first time and perhaps the fresh perspective is what you need.

that he also wants to hear from your husband is an excellent sign.  Hubby can fill in the blanks for you as well as give first-hand testimony to how you have changed and the struggles you regularly have.

That your walking is linked to neurological problem in his mind is very encouraging.

Please don't be discouraged by this - I think it is all good.  I hope I'm right...... Lulu

It sounds encouraging.  He sounds interested and not dismissive.  A good thing!  From what you said he seems to want to help you, Sweetie.

It sounds like a fresh look rather than back to the beginning.  What kind of doctor did you see?

Wanna :o)

Just remember another pair of eyes never hurts.  What one person may not see the other may.  It is kinda like when looking for the cause of my anemia.  It took a year for Dr. F to dx me with CD.  So who knows maybe he will see something no one else did.  He at least seems interested.  He didn't just blow you off.

Many of the tests and questions he asked you my Pt asked at my eval.  Get a copy of his initial assessment.  I learned somethings from mine.

Hang in there.  Some where some one has an answer.  terry
