What's in a name?

Your screen/usernames often leave me wondering - just like those vanity car license plates that spell out cryptic messages. So I would like to know more about your screen name - is there a story behind it that you would like to share?

My name - Lulu - isn't what I started out with.  A couple months into this when I realized I would be sticking around here, I thought everyone else has a *fun* name, why shouldn't I do the same?

We have a dear friend who has a habit of calling all of us women friends *Lulu* when we gather to play cards.   Alzheimers runs in his family and he often says knowing all of us by one name now will be helpful later on.    He uses it as a term of endearment part of the time and as a curse other times.  :-)

I also think of this MiSerable disease as one lulu of a hand to be dealt.

Just plain *Lulu* was already taken so I put my birthyear behind the name - hence Lulu54.

So in a nutshell, that's the story behind my username.

What's your story?

Max is my favorite cat. I adore him!  I actually have two cats.  I love them both, but one is my  pet, and the other is my son... (I couldn't have any human children.)

I found him in a barn, by himself- no momma, when he was still very tiny.  He was sick, sneezing all over the place- and desperate for someone to help him.  This tiny (at the time) creature came out of the barn to me:  soaking wet, shivering, sneezing and hungry. I was visiting family at the time, and they didn't believe in having animals in the house.  But there was no way, I was going to leave that tiny, sick baby in the barn.  Especially with the knowledge that there was no momma cat anymore.  He wouldn't have survived.  I was preparing to sleep in my car with him, so I could keep him warm- and feed him when he needed to eat.
As I was getting things ready to stay in the car with this tiny kitten- my brother-in-law relented, and agreed he could stay in the house while I was there.  (It was already agreed he would be going home with me.)

He was as precious.  He fit in my bathrobe pocket when I found him.  He would stay there, all curled up.  Sleeping, purring, eating, and getting healthier.  He is my baby.  I don't think he has any idea he is really a cat.  I sure couldn't teach him how to be a cat.  He still curls himself around my head, or anywhere else he can- to get as close as he can, when he is going to sleep.  He snuggles with my husband too.

He is absolutely huge now.  Tall for a cat, and about 19lbs.  But he is still completely precious to me.

I will try to post pics of both cats in my profile.

This is a fun thread!  I don't think any of these are boring at all. I love them all.

Mine is obvious. My first name is Sandy and I am a geek. I love technology and gadgets and I work in the IT field. I have a Microsoft certification as well as Network cert. I'm proud to be a geek and I love how the female IT population has increased quite a bit in the past few years.  I dread talking on the phone since I'm in support and am on the phone all the time at work.

Thank you all for sharing.

What a fun thread! I have been a member for a while now but this is the first time that I have seen it. everyone is so creative. Unfortunately, I am not one of them! I joined this forum when I was in a very dark funk so I just used my first name, abbreviated and letters from my last name, boring, I know!

This is fun! I got a new haircut the day before I registered.  When I came in to work one of the ladies said "Oh my! Aren't you a saucy girl!"  Hence the name.

Mine is not nearly so creative...  I am orginally from Baltimore and when I moved to PA (tho never lived in Philadelphia)...  my brothers kept teasing me I was now a Philly Girl...  that lead to always being referred to as Jen in Philly, somewhere along the way some 18 years ago, it became Jenphilly...  I've had that yahoo email address since the 90s :)
