Worrying Symptoms?

I have been trying to figure my symptoms but not quite sure how they fit together. 3 months ago noted two very small splinter haemorrhages under 2 of my nails. these settled With normal blood test screen. Then 2 months ago started having pins and needles in thigh.  This was more likely when seated. Then the pins and needles seem to involve the shin on same side.  The Symptoms would come on when driving or laying down And settle if standing and walking.
Then the symptoms become burning sensations on both legs mainly front of legs. Again improving if moving. The symptoms of burning or prickling and crawling started and would last seconds or mins. They would seem to be face, neck, chest, back, thighs, shins or feet. There seem to be all over the place now.
There is no visual or cognitive issues or issues of walking or mental changes. I do have a tendency to assume the worst and can end over searching on web sites.
Had done more blood tests. ANA negative. But double stranded DNA antibody positive but no joint symptoms. .
So what do these symptoms sound like.

Hi and welcome,

You asked "what do these symptoms sound like" and i can really only explain that what you've described is situation specific, as in you only experience these symptoms when you did X but not Y ....

"2 months ago started having pins and needles in thigh.  This was more likely when seated. Then the pins and needles seem to involve the shin on same side.  The Symptoms would come on when driving or laying down And settle if standing and walking"

...which is not suggestive or consistent with a neurological condition like MS.....its more what you'd expect from a temperary peripheral nerve compression / circulation type of situation.

The problem with a temporary peipheral nerve compression /circulation explanation though, is that your saying it has completely changed to all over and quite rappidly if this only began 8 weeks ago...

"Then the symptoms become burning sensations on both legs mainly front of legs. Again improving if moving. The symptoms of burning or prickling and crawling started and would last seconds or mins. They would seem to be face, neck, chest, back, thighs, shins or feet. There seem to be all over the place now."

Anything like this that's only lasting seconds / minutes is unlikely to be related to something like MS because of the way MS caused symptoms develope.

One thought is that it possibly started off with it being more suggestive/consistent with a pheripheral nerve related issue that disapears with movement and if you do tend to assume the worst and then with googling stmptoms and or medical conditions, it 'might' of  fed your health related anxiety and that has caused your symptoms to change and reflect your anxious your feelings.....something to consider.

Hope that helps......JJ

Thank you for your thoughts.  the uncertainty of cause seems to be quite stressing. Seeing neurologist he didn't feeL it was MS. But i seem to be focused into that and everything you read says it is possible that almost any symptom can be a part of MS
That's the biggest problem with health anxiety, once your anxiety fixates on to a medical condition, it's really hard to switch your focus on to anything else for long.

MS is a Neurological conditions that affects the central nervous system, so there is a very long list of symptoms that are associated with MS but typically those same symptoms are more commonly associated with hundreds of other medical conditions too so basically those same symptoms are not unique to MS.

When you factor in how MS symptoms are caused by brain and or spinal cord lesions, then things like symptom types, symptom pattern, how it presented etc are important in helping to narrow down what conditions don't fit and what conditions do. Obviously for a symptom to be caused by a neurological condition there would need to be some abnormal neurological clinical sign and or neurologically related abnormal diagnostic test evidence...

Neurological conditions like MS because of how the symptoms are caused, can't really cause symptoms to rapidly develop or multiply, constantly change locations moving from one side of the body to the other, be all over the body.....honestly what you've described experiencing is not what's generally suggestive or consistent with a neurological condition like MS, so it would be in your best interest to speak to your GP about what else it could be.

Hope that helps.......JJ
