Wow...it's all changed AGAIN!!

Hey all...hope everyone is doing well...yup it's me again and I am soooo glad you are always here to help out!  I have a question about vision and MS if someone doesn't mind helping me out?
In the past, I have had intermittent (1 or 2) little neon sperm shaped little lights going in and out of my vision...usually when I spend a fair amount of time on the computer.
The last couple of days, I have been having HUGE amounts of these little guys floating around!  I guess you could call it seeing stars but there are sure a lot of them!  Has anyone had this in their journey with MS?  Is this something I need to call the neuro about do you know?
Thank you soooo much if you have any info on this...it is freaking me out a bit...OK a LOT!

Hugs,
Rena

Hi Rena, long time no talk, wow sorry you seem to have so much going on right now.  I just wanted to add that you may want to consider a referral to a neuro-ophtha, depending on the outcome of your appt with the ophtha.  Those floating things I think can be a problem with the retina, but probably lots of other things too, possibly neurological,  I think your neuro, GP or ophtha could make the referral if they/you think this would be beneficial.  Even if not so critical now, it would be good to get on the neuro-ophtha's patient list in case your MS does create other vision issues in future.  You know how long it can take for that first appt (unless urgent), but once you're a patient it is easier to be seen again.  I probably went over all of this with you already, but if not, Dr. Michael Johnson at the Royal Alexandra Hospital is great, really smart, young, nice, explains everything well.  I haven't needed to see him recently but it's nice knowing I could get in quickly if I ever need him again.

Sorry I can't help with the RLS, though if anyone else has tips I'll pass then on to my husband, his thrashing drives me nuts, though my snoring drives him nuts and since he's the one who has to get up at 4am I try not to complain too much.

Also good luck with the biopsy, I'll be thinking of you and hoping for the best.

Last fall around this time, I knew a new episode was coming on because I was seeing stars. Sure enough, by the end of December, my vision blurred in both eyes pretty badly. In my case, it was a flare up just getting started. I had two dose packs between then and the big blur. Maybe why it took so long to grab ahold and scare the crap out of me.

Hey girls...well, I am finally getting new glasses!  YAY!!  My eyes have gotten a bit worse and the doc said that my current glasses are not what I need at all so I hope the new ones will help!  I think he thinks that the little neon lights are "floaters" that we apparently get with "age".  I wanted to kick him in the shins because I am not that "old".  he he  He didn't say much past that other than my eyes appear healthy so I guess I will make friends with my floaters...what choice do I have?  Maybe I should name them...hmmmm...tee hee!
As far as the RLS goes, I HAVE 900 count egyptian sheets and even they are pilling!! Not a good thing at all.  I think I will just deal with my throat first and see what they find and then move on to the RLS...hubby will have to put up and be quiet for a while longer...one thing at a time.

Thanks for your input all...it is much appreciated!

Hugs,
Rena

Rena! Maybe it means not enough fish for you! aaaah, only  kidding.

Good luck with your biopsy :( And, the RLS - there are meds for that! Hubby probably hoped all over the recommendations from Oz, lol

Oh, and get you some 400 - 700 (anywhere inbetween) thread count sheets! They are virtually pill less! And F A B U L O U S!

Good luck @ the Optha today - please tell us what this is!

Wellll...I am going to see an Opthamologist on Friday and hoping I can get some answers there and also find out if my vision is REALLY deteriorating as much as it seems to be.

I FINALLY got my surgery date for my throat biopsy.  I go in November 22 and it's just day surgery so I am hoping it will be quick and painless but I have my doubts.  I have lesions on my vocal cords that have been dismissed as being thrush...they don't know what they are.  My voice has been pretty much "someone else's" for a looonnggg period of time and I sure would like to have my own voice back thank you very much!  hehe

I was just watching The Doctors on TV and oddly enough they were talking about RLS and what can be done about it.  They say having sex before going to sleep can help...NOT...they say that stretching exercises can help...NOT...so I guess I need to find a doc that will help me with this.  Does anyone else here have RLS?  If so, what are you doing to help the situation?  I am driving my hubby crazy and if I keep it up I am gonna go broke buying sheets!  The legs move so much at night all my sheets get all pilled and they are not lasting very long not to mention how uncomfortable they are with all these little pills on em!  I have a sweater shaver that I use to de-pill my sheets but I would rather get rid of this annoying problem.

Other than that, the fishing wasn't great this year but the weather stunk (if that's even a word). he he  We did about 6 weeks in the motorhome though so we can't complain.  Sumana...I can't believe you remember that watermelon fruit salad!!  That is hilarious and it made me all warm and fuzzy...thanks for that!  I love it that I can pop in here and find people that still know I exist!  Thank you to everyone for your responses...it is very much appreciated!

Hugs,
Rena

Hey Rena.

When was your last eye exam with an Ophthalmologist?  Sounds like that is the doc u need to see, and not ur neuro. (eye doc would be my 1st call, in my opinion only.)

The face that there are lots more, can be all different reasons. Is it one eye only or both?  Cover one eye at a time, and check.

Thats my 2 cents.  Not everything is MS related...

I have those too & the opthamologist just called them floaters. I also see liitle lights all the time no matter if my eyes are opened or closed (looks almost like a fuzzy tv screen). I do have a lesion on my optic nerve as well. I hope this helps some!!

Rena, my guess is to call your neuro.  I have never had that happen to me so I am of no use.

It is good to see you again.  When I see your name, all I can think about is that carved watermelon you made filled with fresh fruit.  It makes me crave a bit of those fruits!!!!!

Hi Rena!

I would say to let your Neuro know when you have an abnormality such as that.  What can it hurt to just let him know? If you're self conscious about calling for every little thing, then I suggest perhaps you can call during the day and tell the secretary to let Dr So & So know that you're experiencing this and leave it up to him to decide to call you back.  That you want this to be documented.  Can't hurt to do that right?

Good to see you back again (although I dont know you :P)

Hi Rena, I can't help with your vision issues, I've never had any eye problems myself, but I agree with Tammy, I'd call your neuro and report this.

Good to see you posting again, sorry your having more problems.

Sounds familiar to me.  I would make an appt soon, so they can still see if there is an optic nerve lesion.

Good Luck!
