Yay!!!

I went to see my primary dr yesterday to talk to him about the neuro appointment that I had recently.  I asked to be sent to someone else and he said sure!  He did want to read the letter that the one I just saw wrote to him.  The number one thing on her differencial (sp?) diagnosis list was a demylenating(sp?) disorder, but she said that she ruled that out because the MRI (that she wouldn't look at) was normal from last year (it was brain only).  She listed several other things that she also felt were ruled out and finally at the bottom said that based on the MRI (again that she wouldn't look at) that she was going with fibromyalgia.  I told my dr about the MS clinic at the major university near me and he didn't know it existed (it is fairly new).  I let him know that I had spoken to them and that they just needed a referral from him to see me.  He said that he'd put the referral in for me and said that at the end of the day he knows that he can't help me with this because it's beyond his scope of knowledge.  He said that we'd send me wherever I need to go to get this figured out:o).

I asked for a UTI test and I'm glad that I did because I have another bad one:o(.  So he gave me antibiotics for that.

We discussed other issues and the whole visit was very positive.  I left there feeling better emotionally and mentally than I have felt leaving a dr's office in a very, very long time.

This afternoon I got a phone call from them and found out that the MS clinic had a cancellation and that I will be seeing the head of the clinic next Wednesday!!!!  I am SO excited because hopefully this will either confirm MS or rule it out so that I don't have this question looming over me forever wondering if it is or not.

Thank you:o).  I am very happy with where things are right now:o).  I couldn't believe that I got in so soon either and with the head dr on top of it.  I do feel that I'm  close to getting answers at long last:o).  I will update when I get home from my appt next week.

This is great news, dearheart.  I can't believe that you are going to be able to get into the see the MS doctor so soon.  You can call it good luck or divine intervention.  But it's great news.

You ARE in a "good place right now," and I hope that you stay there and get the answers that you have been seeking.

Please keep us updated with all the news.  I am anxious to hear what this new doctor says and if he orders any more testing.

I hope you're smiling...I know I am.  It's wonderful to hear some good news for a change.

All the Best,
Heather

Thank you everyone:o).

I do love frogs:o).  I had a pet clawed albino for seven years.  I miss him and will probably get another at some point.  I miss the tree frogs from where we used to live too.

I have been trying for eleven years to find out what's wrong with me and I finally feel like I'm getting close.  I'm so used to leaving doctor's offices feeling deflated, disappointed, blown off, cast aside and made out to be making things up that to leave feeling positive, believed, validated and taken care of felt so very, very good!  I finally feel like I am in good hands:o).

When I got the call that my appointment is so soon and with the head of the clinic, I was just stunned and elated.  I hope that I won't be disappointed, but from what I've seen online, I don't think that I will be.  If it's not MS, being able to know that I can cross that off will be huge for me:o).  Then I could move on to other possibilities without having the MS question mark looming overhead.

Thinking good thoughts for answers for you.  You deserve a straight answer, or at least constructive sleuthing to see just what's going on...

It always amazes me how this appt cancellations just happen to coincide with someone really needing an appt soon.  I am so pleased that you had this consult with your GP and it was positive.

Something is going on with you and you deserve answers, and sometimes those come from second opinions.

my best,
Lulu

Very clever - I have a niece that absolutely loves frogs too :)

Just wanted to say congrats on the referral and isn't it wonderful to leave the doctors office feeling better then when you walked in? It doesn't happen often, but it does happen and it's great!!

Good luck with the MS specialist and keep us posted with your progress.

  Erin :)
