Alex, I can see how your dog would help your sensory overload. If you are able to trust that your dog is doing your thinking for that area of body I think you would definitively have less sensory overload. Hope that made sense.
Beema
Sorry you have trouble with sound as well.
I kinda get sensory overload in stores with the lights, the people, and all the merchandise. It is better now that I have a service dog. I let her do all thinking for my left side and I am okay. It is hard to explain.
Alex
Thanks all for your replies. The audio books are a great idea but unfortunately I have a problem with sound with my ms and actually usually watch tv with sound off and use closed captioning if I am alone.
I did want to share with you what my neurologist said at my appt today when I mentioned it to him. He says he has seen this thing in other ms pts and that it is related to damage to sensory system related to autonomic system. He had a name for it but I didn't write it down so will ask him in 2 weeks after I see him for follow up after my nerve conduction study.

The audio books are great. With a note from a Doctor in our State you can have access to the library for the blind they send you audio books and you just drop them in the mail in prepaid envelopes. Also I think you use a different part of the brain when you listen to audio book? I use them when I paint because if I am listening to a book it does something for my painting.
Alex
I am an avid reader myself and stick to the large print, as well. I can't say I have ever experienced what you are, but I do know how I feel about not being able to read like I used to. :/
Lulu is absolutely right about the library. Mine here is wonderful. They deliver my books to me, free of charge. I could get the audio ones, as well, if I wanted. If my library doesn't have one I am looking for, then will have it sent over from another library. This service is wonderful and I am so grateful it is a available.
I hope that whatever is going on with your reading fixes itself soon!
Addi
Lulu, Actually it has went on for some time now. Also happens when I am concentrating on a computer game, maybe doing a crossword puzzle etc. Seems to be when I concentrate on something. Maybe its not an ms thing at,all.
Beema
I sure hope it is just a temporary problem for you - perhaps you can give your eyes a rest and listen to some audiobooks (the local libraries have them) u ntil the fatigue problem improves.
best, Lulu
Thank you Paula. I am thinking maybe my eyes tire and its a form of sensory overload
Beema,
I can't say that I have experienced what you are talking about but wanted to let you know that I am thinking about you and hope you can get some answers to this questions :)
Take Care,
Paula
