been missin g awhile...

hello everyone!!  sorry to have been so absent of late...mostly work and slow computer to blame.

just wanted to send out an update...i continue to feel better which is fabulous.  almost to the point of being able to ignore everything...?

the last time i saw my neuro, she wrote me off.  i presented with different sized pupils, hearing loss and tinnitus, residual vertigo and numbness which was well on it's way to resolving and she just said, "well, it looks as though nothing is leaving a mark.  tell your doctor to call me again should anything ever begin to act up again."  and that was it.  as for my eyes, she said that just sometimes happens.

anyway , i had an appt. with an ENT last week who confirmed i have "surprising high frequency hearing loss for my age".  he barely looked at me but seemed positive that i have bppv, so sent me to an experienced physio to treat it.

i went for an appt. and they worked on my right ear to begin.  i came out more nauxious then i've ever felt in my life, but i actually think my hearing is better in that ear now!!  i was under the impression that bppv didn't cause hearing loss or tinnitus, but i remain hopeful that when he treats the other side next week the left ear will improve also.  (wouldn't it be a treat if the tinnitus was lessened too!!??)

i'm awaiting an appt. with an opthamologist to discuss my different sized pupils.  they don't trouble me too much but for some tired, sore eyes from time to time, and it is a bit difficult to read, but not insurmountable.

so, long post for nothing much to report i guess, but i just wanted to say hello and that i'm still around!

happy thanksgiving everyone!!!!

hey shell,

thanks for your post!  yes, definitely it was much easier to accept this time around (the blow off).

as for the history with this neuro., i've seen her only twice and the first visit was terrible.  she did the quickest exam, not giving me time at all to show her anything and then concluded that i had back issues, "maybe an ear infection" (causing vertigo) and the dreaded "anxiety" clause!!

anyway, i went to physio who ruled out back issues as a problem.  The neuro did order MRI's all of which came up fine, so there was nothing to diagnose in her opinion.

Who knows what will unfold next...as i write this i actually feel some degree of numbness setting into my left arm which i will try to ignore--lol!

thanks for reading my post shell and i'll keep in touch!!

xo michelle

Hi Michelle!

We definitely want to see you - you best keep popping in :) !
I'm very glad to hear you are improving, however, you should not have been blown off by that Dr.  I guess it's easier to accept when you are feeling well.
I need to read up on your history w/this neuro and test results unless you feel like recapping.

Don't be a stranger!

thanks paula for your kind response!

even if everything resolved completely, i don't think i could ever leave this forum entirely!  i have learned so much in the months since landing here on medhelp and would miss everyone i've "met" here terribly!  i feel so thankful for all of the wonderful advice and help i have received here!!

so as long as no one minds me hanging around...i'll keep popping in.

oh, and will definitely keep all posted about what the opthamologist ever says.  it is an interesting this...aniscoria i think it's called?

Hi Michelle,

Glad you are feeling better, I have been wondering about you. I hope your symptoms continue to improve and that the doctors can get you all fixed up.

Let us know what the doc says about the different size pupils, there have been a couple of posts on here about that and I am interested in what causes it.

I truley hope that all your symptoms subside and don't return, but I still want you to hang around here, you will be missed if you leave.

Good luck,
Paula
