general advice

hi all, ive been experiencing symptoms relating to ms for 20 years on and off, (balance problems, electric shock sensations, bladder hesitancey, problems walking, and varouis other symptoms).i ave had a normal ct scan and just recently a mri scan which came showing a number of white matter lesions,on my letter its saying that this could be because im diabetic,(i ave only been diabetic for 2 years),anyway last week i had an appiontment with my diabetic professional and the letter on my file is totally different to the one i have been sent, its suggesting that i have more in different parts of my brain aswell, and my diabetic dr wants me to be seen urgently by my neuroligist, which by the way he said he doesnt want to see me again.
any advice or personnal experience would be great coz im at a loss as what i should do

PS to my above post. Ask for a copy of the letter the diabetes doctor has in his possession. You  will most likely have to sign a release of information form but you need that information for your next neuro and to start keeping track of your doc appts. and symptoms.

There is a Health Page, there are located to the right of this column, that deals with making a Timeline. A timeline will help you sort out the symptoms and give it some type of time frame of symptoms and when they come and go and if anything triggers them.

The link to the timeline page is:

http://www.medhelp.org/health_pages/Multiple-Sclerosis/The-Importance-of-the-Timeline/show/765?cid=36

There are many Health Pages, most written by a reitred pediatrician with MS, others by well qualified individuals in the medical field. all are scientifically based. These pages may answer a lot of the questions you have right now.

Best,
Ren

I would follow your diabetic doctor's advice and see a neurologist urgently. Like chris said, I would callyour diabetic doc and ask for a referral to another neurologist, make that an MS neurologist.  If your diabeties doc will speak to this new neuro that would be great be even just a name of a reputable MS neuro would be great!

Apparently, the matter seemed urgent to your one doc so I would follow up on Monday, afternoons are better on Mondays and you will get a more friendly response to your request.

Let us know what you find out.

Take care,
Ren

Your post says that you had an MRI recently. Was it done to MS protocol?  If your diabetic doctor wants you to be seen urgently I'm wondering if it would be worth having him/her call your neurologist or get a second opinion from a different neuro.  It's really hard when your doctors don't communicate.  I got a second opinion and found that the second neurologist was much more willing to work with my general doctor.  She's even willing to talk with my acupuncturist and massage therapist if there are issues.  Don't hesitate to look farther if you are unhappy with your current doctors!!

Good Luck~
Chris
