hi i went back to see my neuro and he confirmed i am having a relapse however he did not feel it needed steroids this time he feels it is a mild relapse
Sorry so late to respond here.
I'm doing well and on Rebif too. Sure hope you are served well by it - I feel I am.
Did you start the steroids? And, if so, you seeing some improvement?

Hi sheley nice to hear from you how have you been.yes i am using rebif.
Shell,
It was in "Disease Markers," Volume 22, Number 4/2006 Pages 235-244. I credited the author, and I have no clue if it is online. I'm sitting in the U of CO Medical Library and of all things, it is printed on paper. In "Fair Use," the original author was credited.
A quick search via Google shows that IOS Press, the original publisher has a citation for the printed material. http://iospress.metapress.com/content/2p9mm6wv4knkuuca/

Nice to see you Mary.
It's very common for neuro's to compliment DMD therapy with steriods. It's been in practice for quite some time.
If you neuro feels you will benefit from both - just go for it.
I can't remember - Did you start a disease modifier?

p.s. Bob - you neglected to post your site. Knowing this is a study-based information - would you be so kind to post it for all to view in it's entirety.
thank you bob for your info. I always appreciate your posts it is good to hear the points from a scientific stand point.Maybe that is why i keep having the reoccurring problems then because if i had the steroids it would have calmed it down? antsluff what do they say about your reoccuring relapses any indication for you why it keeps happening? yes a few days ago i was not so sure i wanted the steroids but now i am. I think when i start into a relapse i just think i am just overheated. I have a bit of denial then it becomes very painful so if the steroids calm down the pain that will be great they did before when i had them in the winter.
People talk about IVSM doing two things:
1) It suppresses the immune system
2) It fights inflammation
The second point is kind of interesting, because one of the key factors in the ability of WBCs to cross the blood rain barrier seems to be inflammation (presence of cytokines, etc.) of the endothelium. In, ""Biomarkers indicative of blood–brain barrier disruption in multiple sclerosis," Waubant suggests that, "...rather than being a disease of the immune system, MS is a disease of the blood–brain barrier."
Reducing the inflammation of the BBB and "sealing the leaks" may actually be one of the key effects of IVSM. This is more than just acting on the active lesion itself, but really preventing the ability of WBCs and large molecules to cross the BBB.

great point and wow diagnosed 2 years ago have been in and out of relapses ugh have done two rounds of iv steroids and 3 rounds of oral steroids I do hope this is going to help this time I am on oral steroids now they are helping some with the fatigue but the chest hug is so bad that it is hard to do anything without becoming exhausted my ribs are inflammed also just so much going on. Better days to all and I hope these steroids are a good decision.
I think you should take a round of steroids. I didn't know this (Cobob told us) that the steroids do help protect us during a relapse. I had thought they only shortened the period of a relapse. Being on them is no fun but if it prevents damage to our bodies who would refuse? Surely not me!!! lol
I hope things get better for you. Please keep us updated.
thank you lisa great to here from you as well.
