sensitivity to sunlight

I was just wondering if others also experience sensitivity to sunlight. From about 2 years my eyes have been extremely sensitive to bright lights, especially sunlight, full or partial sun. I can not go outside without sun glasses after few moments. Even i was unable to drive my bike without sunglasses...

I wear dark sunglasses whenever I leave the house - everyday. Bright light *****! Get yourself proper sunglasses. It really does make it easier.

There are a lot of different medical conditions that list photophobia (light sensitivity) as a symptom of the condition, migraine and lupus are likely at the top of the list but even some medications list it as a possible side effect, it's definitely worth getting the health of your eyes checked out.

The list below is a bit out dated now but it will give you some ideas...

"Conditions Commonly Associated With Photophobia
Ocular

Dry eye
Corneal diseases
Uveitis
Blepharitis
Conjunctivitis
Iritis
Asthenopia
Keratoconjunctivitis
Retinal disease (e.g., cone dystrophy, retinitis pigmentosa)
Vitreous disease
Optic neuritis
Papilledema
Nonocular

Migraine
Blepharospasm
Depression
Head injury
Meningitis
Pituitary tumors
Subarachnoid hemorrhage"

Personally i am very light sensitive too, i wear polarised sunglasses practically all year round when outside now, and they can't let sunlight get in through the top when it's really bright or i still experience everything i usually do when not wearing sunnies.

Hope that helps......JJ

Sensitivity to both light and sound are commonly reported symptoms by folks who have any type of injury to the brain. MS is, or course, a disease that causes injury to the brain. But it is worth noting that these sensitivities can be caused by other means as well. I am very sensitive to sound, myself, and prefer the television to be turned down low.

Sometimes especially when I am very tired and am attempting to decompress. It's as if my senses become heightened. Almost a sensory overload. No idea if it's related to MS or not though.
