this is very funny...

My pulmomologist gave me ropinirole (Requip) because i have so much movement in my limbs, especially my feet, when I am sleeping and when I am awake too.  I was looking up the drug and i found this side effect........

'Some people using ropinirole have developed a gambling habit. It is not known whether ropinirole actually causes this effect. Talk with your doctor if you believe you have an unusual urge to gamble while you are taking ropinirole.'

I couldnt beieve that a drug would do that...but I am still safe, no gambling problems yet.

Has anyone ever taken this drug?   I cannot figure out the dosage, (thats why i quit working, i was a bookkeeper)
its 0.25MG per tablet, last week the pill bottle says to take 1/2 tablet every night,i called my Dr and he said it was written up wrong and i should take 2 tabs every night for a week.

The bottle says to take 1 tablet next week and i am not sure what to really take next week...

Anyone understand that?

Not sure if it was Requip, but I was amused -- kind of -- to hear compulsive gambling listed as one of the possible side effects of some medicine being advertised on the TV recently.  I'm pretty sure it was something used to treat RLS.  I told Nancy about it, and she wasn't sure I wasn't pulling her leg.

It does sound nutty to think Requip could be associated with gambling compulsion. I Googled this and it's true. It's been known for at least the past 2 years. However, I'm sure the incidence of this is tiny compared with number of users.

I agree, we have enough hassles without having to worry about gambling!

Hi Meg, I take requip(2mg 2x/daily) & I haven't developed a gambling habit yet lol & thank God. I'm seriously broke so I guess gambling isn't an option lol. Most of the time they tell you to take it at night before bedtime for restless leg syndrome but since I have the same problem you do I was told 2x daily.  The only side effect I have noticed is nausea but that hasn't happened in a while, though it was a problem when I 1st started it ( I took a dramamine about 3omin before & that helped too). I hope this helps!! God bless you!!
