update on HCG for pain

I recently posted about having to come off Neurontin due to side effects and that my doc suggested HCG injections as a pain medication alternative.

I was unsure about it but willing to try. I had my first injection Aug 13th and I have to say so far it does seem to be helping. I'm doing .5cc injection 3 times a week. I know everyone associates it with weightloss but I'm not following any special diet and I have not lost any weight.

Just thought I'd share since I think it's a fairly new idea for pain treatment. The way my doctor explained it works wonders for some people and and doesn't help others at all so you should know pretty quickly if it's effective for you.

Cost me about $60 for a 5cc bottle...I'll update again later...hoping the pain stays away for a long long time!

I'm not sure I know how to answer that question. I do know that during my pregnancy I felt wonderful and that's very common for symptoms to improve during pregnancy. So I guess the HCG being a pregnancy hormone it has a similar effect.
I typically have a lot of leg pain, burning, tingling, buzzing and skin pain and right now it seems to be calmed down. Its still early but so far I've been impressed.
I like the fact that it's a hormone that you can have naturally instead of the manufactured drug and if it offers any relief I'm on board. Even if I get a year out of it that's one year that I don't have side effect of the other drugs on my body. As I learn I will post more for sure. I just wanted to share the idea so everyone can research and learn as well.

Thanks for sharing your experience with HCG, sounds quite intriguing given the difficulty in treating neuropathic pain.  By what mechanism does HCG relieve this symptom?  I always have a need to understand not just whether a drug works or not, but HOW it works.
