Lumbar **** replacement

My wife finally seen a neurosurgeon for her cyst, after more than a year.
Turns out the cyst is minor, her main problem is a degenerated disk to the point it's almost non existent and grinding bone on bone, thus pinching the nerves constantly.
She was told fusion is impossible as the bone the decrees would go into is too thin making it almost impossible the hit.
He left it at that.
We have been researching alternatives and found lumbar disk replacement, but can't find any syrgeons that do it.
We live in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, anybody know of a surgeon In ontario that does this? Anywhere in ontario.
Please he'll us find one.

Thanm you for the information. The doctor we seen told us it was inoperable and left it at that, but he was talking about fusion.
We will try what you have recommended.

Hi!

I am sorry to hear about your wife and understand that she must be in deep pain. Actually if the vertebral bones are too thin then, I am sorry but surgery may not be a possibility. Artificial disc replacement is still in testing stage and available at few centers. Foe the disc replacement to be successful, the vertebral bones need to be strong. You need to discuss this with the doctor you have been to or an orthopedic spine specialist. After viewing all the reports the specialist may be able to guide you regarding the possibility and feasibility of surgery, its success, and hospitals where it is available.

While you are going through all this, your wife can go through physical therapy, manual therapy, etc along with a combination of pain killers. A specially designed corset can help keep her spine straight and minimize the motion between the vertebrae. All these methods will help reduce the pain to a great extent.

Do discuss this with a spine specialist in your area. I sincerely hope you will find this information useful in your journey towards a better health for your wife.

Hope she gets better soon! Good Luck and take care!
