Hello,
I have been getting repeat MRI's for a syrinx discovered 1.5 years ago. One is in from T-2 to T-10 and at it's largest point about 4mm. The other is in my cervical spine about 1mm along with degeneration of the C2 to C5 discs and tears (no herniation) I also have another small syrinx in the lumbar spine. Apparently, there is one near the S-1 nerve root but the radiologist and my husband...another radiologist say it is not impeding the S1 nerve root.
(Was in a bad car accident at about 24 years old. T-boned and air bag deployed. I am now 38.)
The symptoms are progressing was found after c-section. I have left foot drop and no sensation in my left leg up to my left knee. I get frequent awful headaches and n/v. I have been losing weight because of nausea.
The last MRI, out of the four repeats that are every three months, stated no change in syrinx size but a new scoliosis that wasn't there last year along with increased degeneration of the cervical discs.
My neurologist doesn't think the symptoms are related to the syrinx because he says it is too small. The neurologist believes I have another disorder that is yet to be diagnosed...
I frequently get torticollis and cannot move my head from the left to the right. Along with these spasms I sometimes get those headaches and cannot move my neck.
There are often days I am exhausted and have to sleep twelve hours to make headaches go away. I get daily minor headaches but severe ER type headaches at least twice a month with exertion.
I have went from running six miles a day to not able to go for a long walk without pain. I generally feel ok first thing in the morning but start to worsen in the early afternoon. Driving long distances or extended sitting; causes headaches and neck spasms.
I have had EMG's, other nerve conduction tests and the full workup for MS. Is there anyone that you know specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of this before it gets worse? We are in Illinois.
