Hi!
I am sorry to hear about your little one’s medical problems. Olivopontocerebellar hypoplasia involves underdevelopment of the cerebellum, pons, and inferior olives of the brain. In lay man’s terms it results in or is caused by spongiform brain and metabolic diseases. The child usually has problems with balance, gait, speech, walking, difficulty in swallowing, muscle weakness, rigidity, hyper-reflexia etc. There are many complex things happening and each child differs in degree of neurological affliction and thus in symptoms. Please consult in detail with your doctor regarding this. Hope this helps. Take care!
