Am I losing it here?

It started when I had two fainting spells in one day. After the second one I felt weird and had a splitting headache, my left side was heavy and numb and then noticed I made no sence when I talked. My husband was scared and call EMS. I was taken to the hospital and after having  (head, neck, chest) MRI's and CT's w/ and w/o contrast, being in the hospital for 4 nights, and couldn't find the blood clot I was diagnosed with earlier, then assumed I was making this up or it was a conversion disorder. How is this possible that they couldn't find the cloot in my leg, and no test could find it anywhere else? I still have a bad headache and can't speak w/o stuttering or slurring. Also my leg still feels heavy and my face and neck are still numb. They sent me home with Ativan. Please someone tell me if I am losing my mind. This is horrifying and I am only 27 years old. I was also diagnosed with Myotonic Dystrophy Type 1 and the Neurologist w/o even looking at my file said I was making that one up too!.. I currnetly take MS Contin 30 mg BID, Neurontin 300 mg TID, Baclofen 10 mg TID and Toprol XL. Did I get a bum deal on the house staff that day or should I go elsewhere? Should I get new scans and labs done?

lacunar infarcts?  You mean the CT's and MRI's may have missed it? Thank you so much. I have a repeat of the scans in a week. Anything else I should ask my doctors to look for to figure this whole mess out?

Hi there.

Your symptoms may point out to a primary neurologic problem such as lacunar infarcts or small strokes that cannot be detected by imaging studies.  I don't believe that you are losing your mind since your symptoms sounds really real.  I suggest you discuss this seriously with your doctors.  A repeat scan may also help.  If still not convinced with your doctors then it is not a bad idea to seek a second opinion.  I hope you and your doctors can get to the bottom of this soon.  Regards and God bless...

BTW the Neurologist I speak of in this post is the one at the hospital. My neurologist here in town and at Duke Medical diagnosed me with DM type 1. And I failed to metion NHRMC (where is was treated for 4 nights in CCU) is a teaching hospital. I know Dr's make mistakes, but I am a mother of 2 and I can't afford to be a lab rat.
