Bad pain, lower back, 12 weeks post lumbar puncture

Hi, I went to my doctor about migraines 12 weeks ago, and she sent me straight to ER with potential brain haemorrhage. In ER they done CT scan, and lumbar puncture. It took them 9 attempts to get the fluid, the local anesthetic didn't work at all I felt every bit of it. It was worse pain than child birth. I was then moved to sit upright on a chair for 2 hours to wait for a hospital bed for the night. The next 5 days were like hell, I couldn't sit up, walk, nothing. I lay flat in bed, only got up to pee. It's now 12 weeks later, and my back is in agony. It hurts my lower back if I walk around too much. But I have constant pain on the right side of my back, lower back. Just at the bottom of my ribs. It's so painful, when I take a deep breathe in, or put any type of strain on it. My doctor has just said I can be sore for months after.. but I don't feel like this pain is normal? I.e one side, and the position of the pain. Also the pain feels internal.. it isn't sore to touch, massaging doesn't help etc..

I'm genuinely afraid to go back to the hospital as the treatment I received was terrible. I'm terrified they'd keep me in overnight again.

I'm really writing this to see if anyone has experienced anything similar?

I haven't had this done, but it does seem like a long time to be having pain. Nothing I read indicated that it would last this long, nor be this severe.

Is there a doctor you can get a second opinion from?

Thanks so much for your reply. My own doctor wasn't much help. I told her it felt internal, and sore to touch.. She prescribed me with an anti-inflammatory gel, called Etoflam. Which done absolutely nothing for the pain.

I am back with her on Wednesday for something different, but I'm going to ask her if she can sent me for a scan or something.

If that fails, I'll probably have to go back to ER at the hospital.. Its something I really don't want to do, as I still haven't gotten over my last stay there.

Be really firm with your doctor, and descriptive, just like you were here. Explain how it's affecting your life, your activities, etc.

If you haven't said this part, make sure to. Read it to her if you need to. "It's now 12 weeks later, and my back is in agony. It hurts my lower back if I walk around too much. But I have constant pain on the right side of my back, lower back. Just at the bottom of my ribs. It's so painful, when I take a deep breathe in, or put any type of strain on it."

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!
