Recently I began having seizure-like activity (note: not diagnosed seizures) in which my limbs would shake and move uncontrollably, I would black-out, and then when woken from this episode, be completely disorientated. I wouldn't know where I was immediately, or know answers to questions that I should know easily (example: what's your middle name?) I would slur my speech, speak very slowly, and speak as little as possible. There were also several times that I would quit breathing in my sleep.
Along with this I experienced severe headaches (the worst I've ever had), dizziness, extreme fatigue, tightness (moderate to severe) in my chest, and problems focusing my vision.
These episodes started about five weeks ago- at which time I had one episode. Within three weeks I was experiencing several episodes a day, and spending most of the day sleeping (I continued to have episodes in my sleep.)
I started seeing a doctor about three weeks ago, who has been an absolutely nightmare. This is a doctor that is not giving me many answers-- and is treating me like a child (I am 21, and this doctor is asking to speak to my parents rather than talk to me-- my parents are not around). She also does not answer my direct questions, nor do I feel like she is genuinely listening to my issues-- I feel as if she is just trying to push medication off on me to get me out of the office.
The doctor has put me through many different tests, inculding an EEG, EKG, and MRI.
My EEG turned out fine. My EKG showed that I had an irregular heart rhythem. My MRI showed a cyst in my brain and severe sinusitus. However- the doctor has not given me the exact location or size of the cyst.
The doctor orginally prescribed a blood pressure medicine for me for the headaches, then took me off of that to put me on Keppra for the seizures- even though my EEG showed up that I am not having epileptic seizures. I was also given a Z-Pack for the sinusitus. I am still taking the Keppra.
I am still off work with this condition, as I am still having episodes (approximently five times throughout the day, give or take, and depending upon the day)
Some other info: Approximently ten minutes before the very first episode I had, I bumped my head on a windowsill. I wouldn't consider it hard enough to give me a concussion or truely cause these problems, but it's something worth knowing. I hit my head right behind the right tempal.
About two days before the first episode, I had two severe spider bites on my hip-- over the course of the next week (before the episodes became bad and worrisome) these bites pussed up. I popped them, as you would a pimple, and they both produced long (4-6 inch) strings of a mucus/puss, attached to a "root" of yellow ball/egg looking thing (I assumed this was my fat?)
I am 21, female, moderately overweight, but otherwise healthy. I don't exercise, per say, but I am out and about and live a fairly active lifestyle. I do have an irregular heartbeat, but am not sure that this would be a contributing factor. I also have a high-stress job.
I begin seeing a specialist on Dec 11th and am currently trying to get in to a new general practice doctor within a week, but am not sure if I'll be able to due to insurance reasons-- any suggestions or questions that I need to ask my doctor? Has anyone known anyone with similar symptoms or know what could possibly be going on?
Thank you all so much.
