Hello, I am a 48 yr old female with a history of high cholesterol which is now under control. The only other reoccurring issue is sever back pain. in 2015 I had L4/L5 fused, but since then, above and below the fusion, the discs are deteriorating. The pain is mostly below the fusion cause sciatica pain in my lower back and radiates out towards my hips and down my legs. I've been getting shots in my back since the surgery to help the pain versus pain meds. Lately I've been forgetting my whole train of thought, people's names, directions while driving, vomiting, choking, etc. I was directed to a neuro/spine specialist. They performed a brain MRI and cognitive tests. The MRI showed small vessel ischemic disease with 3 small old cerebellar cortical infarcts. Also, a 3mm rounded signal void within the interhemispheric fissure suggestive of a small pericallosal aneurysm. I won't see the Dr. until next week, but this is making me very anxious. Is surgery required for any of these findings? Would these findings have any connection to my forgetfulness?
