Brin MRI findings in my 3 yo

My son's brain MRI showed many abnormalities. This is expected because he has obvious mental and physical symptoms.  However, I feel as if the Neurologist should have explained more and made us aware of the dangerous situation we could be facing.

Could my son fall into coma? Could he stop breathing? When does the shrinkage of Myelin and other brain matter put him at risk?

Here are the most profound findings as noted: (ANY ONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS)

1) There is mild diffuse prominence of the sulci throughout both cerebral hemispheres and prominence of the cerebellar folia which likely reflects parenchymal volume loss.  Additionally, the pons and midbrain appear small.  There is diffuse thinning of the corpus callosum.

2) Again noted is relatively confluent abnormal T2 prolongation within the white matter of both anterior temporal lobes.

3) Overall, white matter volume appears decreased and there is continued extensive patchy T2 Signal involving the white matter of both cerebral hemispheres.  Additional abnormal t2 prolongation is observed within the pons, middle cerebellar peduncles, and midbrain.  The overall degree of T2 prolongation within the white matter appears diminished.

4) There is abnormal susceptibility related signal loss involving the globus pallidus bilaterally which reflects mineralization.

Any comments are helpful.

Hi, Thank you for your question. There can be many possibilities in your case that involve the brain white matter, either exclusively or in combination with grey matter changes. These include metabolism errors, exogenous toxins released by virus, autoimmune disease, leukodystrophy, demyelination, and radiation effects. Spasticity, muscle weakness, paralysis, hyper-reflexia and movement disorder may be the clinical features associated with white matter disease that need to be evaluated thoroughly. However, it is sad to say that there is no permanent cure but conservative treatment & physiotherapy exercises that would help you to regain your normal function and stopping the further progression of the disease. Please consult a neurologist in this regards. Hope this helps.

My son had a late diagnosis of Hyperinsulinemia (Chronic Hipoglycemia) at 8 months old. So the MRI, Showed diminished white matter. So he is a bit ataxic, and has a lot of alike behaviours with autism, although he does eye contact, and he is very quiet. He doesnt say any words. And does some innapropriate play, has sensory issues, an a bit of OCD. So the give him ABA THERAPY SESSIONS, And ive been doing research about the METHYL-B12 Shots, with Dr. Neubrander, and we are going to give it a try. Go to this web site. IT BROUGHT ME HOPE BACK!! www.drneubrander.com/  If you choose to do it make sure the make a Methylation panel from vitamin Diagnostics. That way the study tells you if he would need to take any other vitamins to absorb the mB12. All the videos are so encouraging, People telling their success storys about their children, in matter of weeks or months.
