Developmental Coordination disorder

My grandson was diganosised with Developmental Corrdination disorder My question is can this cause him not to be able to walk in the mornings when he wakes? He is so weak he can't stand then as the morning progresses he starts to move a bit more but very unstable.I often have to assist him so he dosen't fall.He also complains with pain in his legs as well  during the day.Is this part of this Disorder or do you think I should have him farther tested ?

Hello.

This is certainly not a part of the Developmental coordination disorder. Your grandson should be examined by a pediatrician. He may be having problems with this bones or muscles.

How old is he ? And how does he do in school ?

He's 5 years and 7 months old. He attends Kindergarten and his teach assigns students to help Trevor along all day. She too has said that Trevor complains of leg and stomach pains. He rides the bus to school in the mornings and it's a real struggle for him to climb the two steps. If it wasn't for the hand rail He wouldn't make it up.and his bigger sister always stands behind him she says so he won't fall she's 7.Trevor has complained of leg pains since he was 3 years old. I had him tested for Cerebal Palsy because of the definately noticable weak legs. The test came back Negitive. And the testing didn't go any farther.I told them everytime Trevor would  try to take steps he would fall. They said he just needed a little more time to develop some kids take longer .So I took it for that.
But When I wake him in the mornings for School he is so weak he can't walk. I carry him and dress him. At the bus stop which is our driveway He leans on me for support.

Hello again.

Have you considered the possibility of any muscular dystrophy ? Was he shown to a pediatrician for this complaint ? There are a few types of muscular dystrophy which can produce such symptoms. I am not sure, but you can get this ruled out.

I want to thank you for encouraging me to look farther into Trevor's conditionI had taken trevor to a nerologist when he was just two years old and he was tested for Cerebral Palsy. They preformed an MRI and at that time I was told he did not have it .Well as you know Trevor is now 5 years old and having alot of muscle weakness in all four of his extemities,he drools and he is learning delayed. If you hadn't encouraged me to take him back for testing I would have never known he does in fact have Cerebral Palsy.I just wish That it was discovered when I had him tested at age two.I thank God it isn't Muscular Dystrophy and I thank God for you and the knowledge you have shared with me as well was your encourgment. Thank you so much !!! ,
