EMG question

Experiencing pain and tingling in left arm and hand with muscle weakness again. I have had this in the past in both arms but mostly the left. Was diagnosed with arthritic spurs on cervical spine about 15 yrs ago. I had an emg several years ago and was told I did not not have carpal tunnel syndrome. Dr. suggested another emg on left arm but since the original test I have been treated for breast cancer and had a lymph node removed from left arm. Can I safely have an emg on my left arm.  I am left-handed and do not want to mess up my dominant arm.
