I've been dealing with vertigo for 5 years now.. Had it 4 years ago and now its back. I've done alot of reading. Chiropractic has helped me very much. And I concur, neck twisting probably isn't good, but for now that the only kid of chiropractor I can afford to go to. Try to find an upper cervical chiropractor and have them look at the atlas ( the c1); sometimes when that is out of alignment, it causes so many issues! As soon as I'm back on my feet, I'm finding one to go to and get checked out.
I stopped chiropractic for a few months and that was the worse idea, I don't want to be dependent on it but I've heard some adjustments done by upper cervical chiros is much better and lasts soo much longer! Good luck!
Vertigo has brought me to my lowest points, I never thought I'd have to deal with it again but I do...and I hope I won't have to any longer!
I just realized this is from 2009... did you get any help??
i think you must check your blood pressure when vertigo or ''dizzness start''
i'm sorry it took so long to get back to you i was having problems with the site.
meniere's disease symptoms- #1 a low pitched roaring, ringing,or hissing in the ear,.#2 hearing loss, which may be temporary or permanent.#3 vertigo , which is the feeling of spinning or whirling.#4a feeling of pressure or fullness in the ear. hope that helps. good luck. dianna
Just another thought here. There are physical therapists who can help with vertigo as well. Did your sister get an MRI of the inner ear? There can be fistulas loose in the ear and cause the dizziness. There are some trained physical therapists who will dislodge the fistulas with one or two adjustments. I had read an article in a magazine about it years ago called Stop the Spinning.
I will get vertigo too..had a bad episode last week. I've been through all the neurological tests and the ENT tests. When I first got vertigo, I had undergone many tests at a university hospital by the ENT department. They said all was normal... I felt like when I bent over, it got worse....so I went to a local ENT dr. and he put tubes in both ears, even though he couldnt see anything wrong, he said it sounded like I had estauchian tube dysfunction. He was right. Once the tubes were in, that dizziness stopped.
And now I get a different kind of dizziness where I feel like Im weightless and falling into the walls. I go to a chiropractor that DOES NOT twist the neck. I emphasize that because its a bad idea to have your neck twisted. I see a chiropractor that uses the activator method. For me, the dizziness was caused by C1, or C2 and sometimes the sub-occipital bones being out. The activator is very gentle...looks like a marking pen..and you can ask the chiro to do a light adjustment. I also get treated with the instrument called the arthrostim..which does not put force on your neck, the force goes back into the "gun". I've had it done many times and never got hurt. It stops the dizziness until the bones shift and go out again...then I go back which could be a week or three weeks and get adjusted again. This worked for me. I feel fine when Im in a good neck alignment.
You can find a chiropractor who uses the activator method by calling chiropractors around you or go to activator.com for a list of drs. you'll see on that site the instrument. Did you have a neck injury or any type of injury to the skull that could have shifted the bones. The worst dizziness for me is when the sub-occipital fibers and bone are out... it is painless to have it put back in. A good chiro can do an evaluation and help you. The drs. at that website are specially trained in the use of activator, you'll see some with advanced certification..they are highly trained in the usage of the activator and must attend classes every year and take a state test to be re-certified. They can use the activator anywhere--foot, knee, back, it works great for me.
Good luck and PRAY about this situation with the dizziness and see where God leads you. ASK Him for the right answer. For me it was chiropractic.
She has been to several neurologists and has had mri's and other various tests done, but everything came back negative. I would hope they would have ruled that out by now. What are some of the other symptoms related to menieres disease?
probably a silly question. but have they checked for menieres disease?
