I convinced my doc to order me an ultrasound. They also did a d-dimer test. Both came back negative. Also, flexing my foot doesn't create any more pain in my thigh. Though it does make my calf hurt, but it makes both of them hurt. I just have stiff calves. I'm still having the thigh pain. Also, burning sensations, tingling in my foot/toes, and sometimes the muscle (not the skin) above my knee feels numb/heavy. Also, today when I was walking, I started having a stabbing pain in the front of my pelvis whenever I took a step. It eventually went away. Does this sound more like a nerve?
If you have a good rapport with your family physician I would speak with him to get reassurance regarding the cause of your pain. Surely your neurologist will identify the cause of your pain. It is a shame to assume you have a clot and miss the benifit of warm compresses or a heating pad or warm shower etc to relieve your discomfort.
There are many causes of pain but yours does sound like sciatica. One can even have foot pain due to disk problems or inflammatory process of some kind, at the neck or lower back.
If your tried flexing your foot as I described on August 16th and did not have increased pain in your thigh then usually there is no clot. If still not convinced then ask another trusted physician for his/her opinion and get the tests suggested. Ask a physician on this site for advice too. Hope you get relief soon.
I went back to my cardio and expressed my concerns. She told me she wasnt worried about me having a clot. And just left it at that. I do have health anxiety. So, now im afraid to take hot baths because im afraid it will break the clot im paranoid I have loose. Ive had a few panic attacks. Is it safe to assume that if the clot didnt break loose during one of my panic attacks that it probably doesnt exist?
Sorry for the fragment at the end of my reply to you. You probably figured out that it is part of the third paragraph. When you flex your foot upward
a clot often causes additional calf pain. It can be deep in the muscle of your calf. There may be no redness or heat. If in doubt please go tp a professional health center rather than let a clot move to other areas. Hopefully all is well for you.
Hi,
Sorry you are experiencing the intense pain in your left thigh. I recently recovered from sciatica involving thigh and foot pain. Most folks refer to the cause of sciatica as a pinched nerve in the lower back. L5 in my case.
Like you described the pain varies and does increase with sitting long and
could be aggravated by specific repeated motion. In my case I tended to bend at the waste in order to pull stubborn weeds out of the healthy hedge
in my yard. Poor posture is ofter a culprit!
Of course there are varying reasons for your type of pain, Best to see Dr. and realize you probably will need an MRI of your back.
As for the calf problem perhaps you experience leg cramps with the sciatica. That can leave pain in your affected muscle for days. Maybe a bruise is the cause of your calf pain. If you are concerned about a clot now the best thing to do is go to the ER and voice your concerns. If you have your leg extended while lying in the bed, face up, can you identity increased pain in your calf. If have more than muscular discomfort it is time to have the calf checked, at the ER if your doctor is unavailable. The less walking on your leg the better.
If you are living with a severe heart murmur you are right about potential clots. However I have a murmur and some prolapse and
it is under good management for many years. Don't fear too much just
continue to take positive steps as you are doing. See your cardiologist soon for follow-up. Often the nurse at a cardiologist can help you select
what step to take first. She should be able to pinpoint what is urgent.
Hope this is helpful. Please let us know how you are doing. Also the physicians on here will answer questions that hopefully are not urgent.
Let us know how you are doing. Welcome to this great site too!
involved calf as you flex your foot at the ankle and toward your head.
I forgot to add that I'm 25. Male. Taking 25mg of Metoprolol.
