Help understand Arachnoid Cysts in 50 yr old male??

In March of 2007, my husband was thought to have a stroke.  He had temporary partial paralysis of left side.  In tests at ER they did catscans and found a syst at the base of his brain.  along with that and the diagnosis of D.J.D. (O.A.) he was referred to see a neurologist.  They did more cat scans and a MRI and found a second one one the left side above his ear.  Since regaining full strength back and back to work he is experiencing severe long term memory loss (friends, family, daily chores, even our wedding) but things that he does every single day all day long he has no problem with.  Does any of this make any sense to anyone???  I need help and questions answered before he gives up totally.  We have an 11 and a 14 yr old and he wants to remember them growing up and is having a hard time.

Thanks for anything that might help.
Michele
