I am not sure if this is the problem.

Help please.  My mom is having "episodes" (That is the best way to describe it) where she feels "electric".  She hurts, she will twist, turn, roll and kick sometimes, during all of this she is crying uncontrollably.  She has some jerks and she can't control them.  They are not violent jerks, just small jerks.  It isn't like convulsions where someone might get unconscious and jerk all over.  She feels like she has no control over anything, and afterwards, she is zapped of ALL energy and she will have no strength whatsoever.  She has been to several doctors and no answers.  Please someone help with any suggestions, and please pray.  Her name is Pam.  Thank you so much.

Hi.

I'm sorry that your mother is going through all of these.  From what you have described I can think of a few explanations.  She could have a primary movement disorder (something to do with a part of her brain called the basal ganglia) which causes these sudden and unnecessary movements.  Infarcts (inadequate blood supply) to this area of the brain can also cause such symptoms.  Multiple sclerosis can also present with these symptoms along with the feeling of electricity jolts.  I agree that this is not a seizure episode since your mother is fully conscious about what is happening.

I suggest you consult a specialist (neurologist) to have this evaluated and treated.  I hope you and your doctors can get a definitive answer soon.  Regards and God bless.
