IIH or sinusitis?

I have IIH and am taking Diomax,500mgs . I am waiting for surgery soon. My problem is  I have cold like symptoms but I am not sick. My sinuses are all blocked up, I have a tickly cough and trouble breathing. Is this another side effect of IIH or something else? My dr said it was the  build up of pressure and gave me a nasal spray. This has been going on  for 3 mths. Can any one help please? Thank you. Cath278

Did you ever take CIPRO when you were in Africa or other fluroquinolone drugs?

I have been diagnosed with IIH but only after two months of roaming from one dr to another. Long story short: my current problems started three months ago with a cold like symptoms. I was in Africa then, and the weather there was changing every day (rainy season). I wish to believe that atmospheric pressure change has an influence on people with increased CSF volume, whereas the blood flow that has been impaired by IIH is impaired even more by change in atmospheric pressure values. Color Doppler of my blood vessels in the head and the neck ruled out any existence of the plaque. Any increase of the heat in my environment has a negative impact and then my blood pressure goes down to 80\50 or 90\60. Malaria and other tropical diseases were ruled out. Bacterial or viral infection were ruled out. A big question is existence of glaucoma or other visual impairment. Some tests have confirmed while some have ruled out existence of the glaucoma. However, those ones that have confirmed its existence were conducted in the morning, and that is the time when my symptoms are the worst. My rituals of nasal emptying start as soon as I get up and up until 10 or 11 am. After that my nasal ways are clear, as well as the sinuses. Throughout the day, my ears are ringing constantly. In the morning or when I get up after a sleep any time during the day,  ringing worsens, but the mornings are the worst. Headaches range from moderate to severe. Blackouts and vertigos are very much experienced after sudden stand ups, especially from crouching positions. NSAID for pain, Chymoral pills for my nasal\sinus emptying. NO ANTIBIOTIC at all I wish it will stay that way. Awaiting for hospitalization for further investigation.

Nedzad how are you doing? I'm in month 11 of being undiagnosed, just today a vascular surgeon sent me away again saying he can't find anything wrong. I'm baffled how similar our symptoms seem. I would be interessted in chatting if you are still active on here. Would love to hear an update. Warm Greetings.

Hi,
For what it is worth I have IIH but originally ended up in emergency with sever head pain that was diagnoses as sinusitis.  I did have sinus problems and went thru a very aggressive drug therapy by a Sinus Surgeon at USC (so cal).  After clearing up the sinus problem I still had bad headaches which then lead me to see a Neurologist and a diagnosis of IIH.  The reason I mention this is you might want to find someone to help you rule out any sinusitis issue as it did make my headaches much worse.

Hi,

Hope you are feeling better.
IIH is not directly related to sinusitis. However IIH can lead to increases build up of pressure in the sinuses which may be causing blocked sinuses. I would suggest you to take steam inhalation and see if it helps you. You can take it 3-4 times a day.
Hope this helps!
