I am so sorry to read this. Unfortunately, lack of oxygen to the brain can cause death of some brain cells and typically it is permanent. I hope after all this time, you've carved out a life for yourself. Those with learning disabilities can lead great and productive lives. Do you work now? Have a family? How are things going? I think continuing to keep plugging away at life can greatly improve things. In my area, they have housing programs, work programs etc, for those who qualify. Do you have a supportive family?
You may seek help from an occupational therapist. They are not about 'occupation' like work but about coping skills for life. They help if someone has trouble with all the things you mention. good luck
If there is one thing I know about the human body, it's really how amazing it is- when one area is damaged, even if it can't heal, many times we can work on ways to 'work around' the damage. I'm not sure if that spot can heal, a doctor would need to evaluate that to be sure- but I'd encourage you to seek some medical care in dealing with the learning disability, memory, and dealing with people issues. There are many resources out there that will be able to help you work through those areas and figure out some ways to cope with the things you need help with. We all need help in one area or another, so don't be afraid to reach out and ask for help. You can start with your general doctor and ask for referrals to resources. Keep us updated on how you are doing!
