Hi,
Severe pain after spinal surgery may be due to nerve damage during spinal anesthesia, nerve compression or injury during surgery or later. Sometimes the surgery isn’t successsful enough to relieve pain. In fact it may aggravate the pain in some cases. The screws may become lose and cause unbearable pain. Please take a second opinion without fail. Please go for an MRI of the spine to know the cause of the symptoms. Please consult a good neurologist. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!

I hope they weaned him off the percocet - your body gets addicted to it and you can suffer withdrawal symptoms.  It must be terrible to be in pain for this long.  Is he going to see his primary care physician or the surgeon ?  If the surgeon won't help him control the pain, see the PCP.  It *****, I think the doctors are VERY careful with giving the pain meds out, because they are so addicting, but then people who really need them have trouble getting them.
