I was presenting with new onset dull headaches behind left eye. This was the summary for my MRI: Scattered cerebral hemispheric white matter FLAIR hyperintensities are nonspecific but may be sequelae of chronic small vessel ischemic disease and can also be seen in the setting of migraine headaches. However, the presence of a left thalamic lesion raises suspicion for an underlying demyelinating process.
Everything seemed minor until the last line, which raised the possibility of demyelinating process, including but not limited to entities such as multiple sclerosis. Please follow-up with your neurologist for further workup and/or evaluation.
In this special Missouri Medicine report, doctors examine advances in diagnosis and treatment of this devastating and costly neurodegenerative disease.
