MG or what? Need help to figure out what to do next.

Is it possible to have Myasthenia Gravis with negative lab results? I have had an IEMG with 'extremely abnormal' findings, but feel lost when noone can explain to me what is happening, and more importantly, what can I get done about it.  I am a 37-year-old mother of 3, I have had hyperthyroidism, was given i-131 (twice) that 'killed' my thyroid, now I am hypo, but stable for the past 5 years, although I still have the Graves' eye disease.  In the past 8 months, I have had increasing muscle weakeness, pain, and tightness.  I have seen 2 rhuematologists, and am about to see a neurologist. What can I expect at this point, if they are unable to find ANYTHING abnormal in my bloodwork?

Just wanted to second what Londres already shared.  I believe that 85% of people with MG have a positive antibody test, while 15% are negative to the test, but respond to treatment (this is where the Tensilon test comes in).

Wishing you well...

Yes, it is possible for the labs to come back negative and a patient indeed has MG.

The Neurologist will do a physical assessment, ice test, a Tensilon test and possibly order an EMG and/or a NCS.  He/she may order more labs.
