Muscle spasms or seizures during sleep?

My 48y old husband started having what Looks like mild spasms during sleep, he doesn’t feel them, he only says that he’s been dreaming weird things. He is very stressed / several years because of work, he is under Lexapro and also under exams because gastro trouble, dr said probably gastritis or gerd. He used to hiccup a lot, but now seems that the hiccups stopped and these spasms started...coincidence or the spasms changed places? Sorry anout my english.
It’s an acute symptom since I have never noticed them. Actually after 2 weeks of Nexium ( to treat reflux ) that I first notice the spasms/ Myoclonus... I’ve seen a lot of you tibe videos and doesn’t look like seizures, it’s more like jerking arms and legs, mildly.
Please help us.

One of the known side effects of Nexium (Esomeprazole Magnesium) is jerking muscle movements so i'd say if he isn't experiencing a side effect of the Nexium, because he's stressed and experiencing weird dreams it's probably just normal sleep induced myoclonic muscle twitches as he's going in and out of the sleep fazes.

"Sleep myoclonus occurs during the initial phases of sleep, especially at the moment of dropping off to sleep. Some forms appear to be stimulus-sensitive. Some persons with sleep myoclonus are rarely troubled by, or need treatment for, the condition..."

I'd get him to mention it the next time he see's his GP but i don't think you should be worrying about things like seizures.

hope that helps......JJ

btw common side effects Lexapro are nausea, upset stomach, gas, heartburn and constipation
