My 14 year old has has a constant headache for 12 weeks, MRI normal any ideas?

My 14 year old has had a low background headache for 12 weeks (all the time) with sharper pains occurring several times a day, also feeling of pressure at sides of his head developing suddenly and then slowly improving, he has had  episodes of blurred vision, dizziness, aversion to lights, nausea. However coordination and balance seem fine, eating and sleeping well. MRI report is normal. Any ideas?

Ugh, ya.  It's so hard.  Here is a pretty comprehensive list of different types of headaches: https://www.webmd.com/migraines-headaches/migraines-headaches-basics#1.  Even in the absence of stuffiness, could he have sinus issues?

I'm sorry to read this.  I have a son that age too.  So, I'm glad you've talked to your doctor about this (as you say he's had an MRI).  They've talked about different types of headaches with you?  Any that ring a bell?  There are different types of migraines that some kids do get.  Also, I have to ask about anxiety and tension.  This is a hard time on kids in my opinion.  Stomach aches and headaches are often whet a kid under emotional distress complains of.  How are things going for him?  Does he still talk to you where you can do some check in's with this type of thing?  Is he a freshman in high school or in 8th grade?  Does ibuprofen give him relief at all?

Hi, he's doing well in school, no friend problems, doesn't seem anxious, generally fit and active.we have been referred on to paediatrics...just concerned as he has constant headache for so long. Slight relief from ibuprofen and paracetamol but only takes then if really needed.
