My wife complains that she can't see the first letters of words

My wife is currently traveling for business and just called me from the airport to report that she can't see the first letters in words written on the signs in the airport.  She said she was reading fine on the airplane, but since she got off has been having this problem.  I asked her if it only occurred with certain types of printed material but she confirmed that it was happening no matter what type of medium she was looking at.  This concerns me because it sounds like a neurological problem. She stressed that it was only happening to the first letter (or first two letters) of each word.  Can anyone help me with this?  Thanks!

I think this sounds like what I have. Silent migraine. It can cause lots of temporary visual disturbances. Mine are scotomas (blind spots in visual field) and sometimes bright flashing arcs.

Did you ever get a diagnosis? This happened to me too for like 20 minutes... It was so strange I wasnt sure if it was because I was looking at a smartphone screen for awhile & had been crying... It stopped and never came back... Seeing a Dr on Thursday for a physical so I will mention... Weird!!!

Thank you for your response to my question regarding my wife's weird neurological symptoms.  The symptoms have not happened again since that day and she has since seen a doctor.  At the moment, there is no diagnosis.  Thanks

She needs to go to an emergency room IMMEDIATELY. There are several possibilities, some minor, but others are life-threatening.
