I have suffered years of pain, disability, and sleepless nights from injuries to my adductors and inguinal region of my groin. These injuries seem to have irritated or damaged my ilioinguinal nerve. And, it is the damaged inguinal nerve which is causing all my problems.
I therefore wondered if you could recommend someone in the UK who would be willing to see me to establish if an ilioinguinal neurectomy would help me. Many thanks.
Paul Cunningham.
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.
Neurectomy surgery usually involves resection of nerve. In inguinal hernia sometimes prophylactic neurectomy of the inguinal nerve is done to prevent post op pain. Recent studies have indicated that neurectomy results in pain relief in about 72% cases. Postop complications are also very less.
You can consider this option after discussing with your treating doctor. Take care!
