Alternative or Complementary medicine in Acute Long-Term Care Hospitals

My Mother-in-Law has Acute Flaccid Paralysis due to West Nile Virus Infection. She has been in a comma-like state, eyes open and slight-varying mouth movement only, for 5 months. How do we find her Complementary and Alternative Medicine options and other doctors or facilities that can help? She is in the LA, California area, and we are willing to move her anywhere in the surrounding area.  The current facility is very resistant to trying alternatives but we believe the risk at this point is in NOT doing anything. Her neurologist laughed at the idea of acupuncture and told us we need to just accept this is it. We have to try EVERYTHING before we accept that. Google searching is not providing us enough resources, any suggestions or information of hospitals or care options would be great appreciated.
