Neurology

I'm a 24 year old male and for the last month i've been feeling weak and stiff in my hands, arms, legs and feet. Everything just feels heavier. Even small objects like cups.
I went for a walk 3 days ago and noticed my right foot felt funny, like a loose feeling. My right foot just feels differen't to my left. I can walk up and down the stairs and walk on my heels. It's just something doesn't feel right.
I'm worried that i could have ALS and this loose, weak feeling in my right foot is early signs of drop foot. I'm scared that my foot is going to get weaker and weaker as the weeks go by.
I went to the doctor 2 weeks ago and she said it's just my mood. But i find that hard to believe that my mood can make me feel like this for a whole month.

I'm sorry, I am distracted here!  Shouldn't post and watch tv at the same time.  I remembered something else I wanted to tell you.

There is a book out called "Perfect Health Diet" by Paul Jaminet and his wife.  They are both scientists who had numerous health problems which could only be poorly managed - at best - by medicine.  They started doing research into numerous studies available to them about nutrition and began changing their diet pretty radically.  This led to a complete recovery of their health.

On their website is a letter written by a woman who has MS.  She says that since she started the diet, her MS has stabilized and even improved.  So maybe this diet CAN help neuromuscular disorders?  It's worth looking into.  I wanted to put this out there because I know you are scared and I wanted to give you some hope.  Nutrition and health are inexorably connected.

One more thing that occurred to me.

Myasthenia Gravis may be a possibility instead of ALS.  A girl I know who has it said it affected one side of body more than the other.

Hi,

I'm so sorry you had such a lousy answer from your "doctor".  That was a lame thing for her to say.

I had pretty much the same brush off from my neurologists PA today.  He said the continued numbness in my feet and the tremor in my hands was due to anxiety.  What a jerk.

I would definitely get a 2nd opinion since your first "doc" sounds like an idiot.

Also, I would have the next doctor - or your primary care doctor - check your vitamin levels too.  You could have a B12 deficiency and Vit. D, and others as well.  That's pretty much a given if your nutrition isn't top notch.  So don't despair - but find a real doctor who will listen to you and DO something about it.
