OFF BALANCE

I have numbness and weakness and now have a hard time standing because I cannot seem to balance.  I notice that when I am standing my big toes are not on the floor and I am more on my heals, trying to balance.  I am concerned about MS and ALS ... any ideas?

Thank you for your response.  I am 36 years old.  I have had this numbness and weakness since August 2007.  I have the numbness and weakness in both feet, both legs and both arms.  My face is numb on my right side and my left forehead.  On the right my eyelid has a constant droop because of the numbness.  I have a hard time walking, I limp because the numbness is more severe on the right side.  I also have difficulty with my balance.  I have had 2 MRI's, 2 CT scans, lumbar puncture, evoked potentials and alot of bloodwork,  everything was clear.  I have EMG testing scheduled for September.  My neurologist is not saying what his thoughts are.

Hi,

How are you?
Numbness with muscle weakness in the lower extremities can be due to a pinched nerve in the lower back. Other causes include diabetes, MS, Deficiency of sodium and potassium, anemia and B6 deficiency.
How old are you? Since when do you have these symptoms?
I would suggest you to schedule an appointment with a neurologist and undergo a complete neurological exam.
Let me know if you need further information. Take care!
