Wow. Thanks for you comments. So many times Dr say that there is no link between things and yet I really wonder. Especially now that my daughter has started 'tic-like' behaviour. My sons pediatrician suggested that it was stress and it would calm down when he asnt stressed, which I accepted as he was gong through a tough time at school. But the tics haven't stopped and whether he is stressed or relaxed makes no difference.
There's no chance of it being mimicing of my condition as while I have muscle tremors etc they are never noticable to the eye (and btw, have dramaticaly reduced since Ive been taking Vitamin D supplemets)The rest of my symptoms are nerve pain, and numbness and tingling.
Id love to know how you and your son are fairing. :-)

I have been diagnosed with PNF after years of Dr.s writing my symptoms off as a symptoms related to my extreme prematurity at birth. They all just assumed I had suffed brain damage and told me and my parents it was CP. My new neuro who I have been seeing for a few months watched me for 10 mins and told me I did not have CP and that it was very evident that I had some form of PNH. The EMG later confirmed the diag. I say all of this to say that I have noticed my son doing the same involuntary motions for a while and kept telling my self that maybe he was just mimicing like little ones do. a few months ago he had a huge accident in which he pretty much broke his face. After that incident his movents got a lot worse and I brought it up to his ped, still thinking at that time that mine was due to CP. His ped said not to be concerned that our two syptoms were prob not related and that extreme stress can bring on "tics" in small children. as long as it goes away by six months it was nothing to worry about. Since then, I have been diag with PNF in place of the CP. His movements have deffinately settled down but I still notice them every now and then. My concern is that he too has this rare disorder. My nuero says there is not much research on whether the condition can be inherited.
Hi there. Tourette syndrome is an inherited neuropsychiatric disorder with childhood onset characterized by multiple physical tics and about one vocal or phonic tic. The more common tics are eye blinking, coughing, throat clearing, sniffing and facial movements. You could be suffering from this disorder only in childhood considering the vocal noises your parents recall you making. There are two other associated disorders with this syndrome, obsessive-compulsive disorder and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Hope this helps. Take care.
