Painful spot on side of head

Can anyone tell me what this is? I have a spot about quarter size on the side of my head about two inches behind my temple that is very painful to touch. Not sore, just painful. Its been like this for over a month now. It only hurts when I'm touching it. You know how you run your fingers through your hair? It causes this sharp pain everytime. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I meant to mention it to my doctor but I was afraid he'd think I'm crazy. (More than he already does anyway. lol.)
Thanks
Debbie

Please, does anyone have any suggestions or opinions? This painful spot only hurts when I touch it but there's no bruise or anything there. This is very frustrating.

Thanks for your quick reply. Could I ask you some more questions? I've also been dealing with a lot of other things in the past eight or ten months and wonder if it can be connected in some way. First I have a lot of cervical spine problems and had to have a cervical ct myelogram in Jan. 09. During that test I had severe pain in my lower back/buttocks and they said the dye irritated some nerves. Now its almost six months later and the back/buttock pain is even worse plus my legs ache and are weak. I had a lumbar mri in April that only showed tarlov cysts in sacral spinal canal the largest 7mm. My doctor doesn't think thats the problem. I'm taking tramadol, Norflex, and flexeril daily but it doesn't help as much as it did at first. This painful spot in my head started a month or two ago. The pain meds don't make any difference. It hurts anytime I touch it. Does any of this seem like it could be connected? Thanks for reading this long post.

It might be due to any inflammation which is causing this. Injury, insect bite may be common reasons and as it is since one month you have to know what is causing this. Take some pain killer and if it does not subside in couple of days go for an examination near your Physician. Some kinds of migraine headaches also cause this. Take care!
