thank you doctor for the advise. I am just 25 years old.
Neck exercises helps a lot. But i have bad days and good days.
Its so tiring to think that it will happen everyday and get worst with age.
Would like to know more experiences form young people suffering from this.
Hi Virajshah, welcome to the medhelp forum. I can understand your dilemma. Cervical spondylosis is a common degenerative condition of the cervical spine, usually related with age related intervertebral disc changes. You have neck pain and nerve symptoms or radicular symptoms. Treatment is usually conservative including painkillers, neck immobilization with a cervical collar or rigid collar particularly during strenuous activity helps relieve neck pain and suboccipital pain caused due to spondylosis and the nerve compression. You should plan a daily cervical exercise program with the guidance of a physiotherapist. There are isometric neck strengthening exercises which could help you. Medicines that could be prescribed if indicated include muscle relaxants in neck muscle spasms, opioids in severe pain, epidural injection of steroids also help in nerve symptoms.
You may try relaxation techniques, correct posture, avoiding forward bending and neck rotation, avoid prolonged sitting etc.
Surgery is advisable only if you have intractable pain, if your symptoms are progressing or if you have weakness in limbs which doesnot respond to the conservative measures.
You need to go to the emergency in case there is weakness in lower limbs or all the limbs, loss of control over passing urine or stools, indicating myelopathy and needing urgent surgical intervention.
Hope this helps you.
You are most welcome with any further clarification.
Best wishes.
