Post-op pain

I had ACDF with plating c5-6, 6-7 done 7-25-08, I want to know if it is normal to have pain in in my lower neck, shoulder and between my shoulder blades ~{ like the pain is in the T-1-2 area now }. If I tense up at all it hurts. Today 8-28-08, my right hand has started to tingle and go to sleep if I have my hand over my head. I am just woundering if this is normal post op type things or should I contact my surgeon?? Thank you for your time.

I have the same thing happening to me on the left side and terrible pain shoulder and between shoulder blades.  I went back to DR and they said "isn't nothing relating to what they did with surgery and is probably stress".  Stress -- - I haven't been back to work since surgery in May and have just had a nerve root block done a week ago and still in pain.  I don't know what else to do or where else to turn.  Also have done PT, heat, ice, cortizone shots.  For the tremors/shakes they gave me propranolol (which is a high blood pressure med).  If you have found anything out PLEASE let me know.  I think they think it in my head!!

Hi,

How are you?
Some of the complications of ACDF surgery are bleeding, infections, and pain. Nerve damage can occur due to surgery, it can cause numbness and pain.
I would suggest you to inform your neurosurgeon immediately of the tingling numbness and pain. It is important to make sure there is no nerve damage or hematoma formation.
Take care!
