Post-viral - Will I be "sick forever"

Hello everyone,

I have been reading through some old posts about post-viral syndrome.  To summarize my ordeal - I was a healthy 33 year old woman 4 mos ago. After having a baby in January 2012, my youngest son (2.5 yrs.) came down with pneumonia. We recovered from it in 10 days. We then both caught a few minor colds.  About 2 weeks later, I still felt sick. I felt enormous pressure in my ears and clogged sinuses, felt like I was "floating" and general malaise.  This went on for a few weeks. Then, all of a sudden, my ankle and wrist joints flared up.  Now, for the past 3 months, I have been having these bizarre symptoms (pressure in the ears, tinnitus, sore neck and jaw (possible TMJ according to dentist), inflammation in ankles and wrists, tingling sensations in my legs and feet, fatigue, and malaise, occasional insomnia and sleep difficulties.

The doctor (I have been there 5 times now), as well as the ENT and allergist I saw, said that is it "post-viral" or perhaps 5ths disease.

I am tired to feeling sick, and it is really stressing me. All the bloodwork was normal.

I was wondering if anyone else is going through this. My doctor wants me to take a high does of Naproxen. I am breastfeeding and wondering if this is smart given that my ears are already ringing (possible side effect) and the effects on the stomach.

Thanks!
Amy

I would definitely NOT take any drugs while breastfeeding. Try to make or buy bone broth and chicken soup (not the MSG laden stuff from the store), that would help more than drugs. Also try garlic, onions and other sulfur containing foods, oranges and other vitamin C fruits which help you clear out viruses naturally.

if it was a post-viral Immunological reaction the non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs won't work.

there is no treatment for these type of issues, except in some cases Plasmapheresis. it's pretty safe, all they do is rid your plasma from the antibodies and put it back in.
