Hi, I’m new to this and I’m not sure if this is the right place to be asking this...but anyway I got diagnosed with Chiari, POTS and EDS in Fall of 2015 after having severe vision impairments. I had surgery immediately. I had a decompression surgery including the removal of parts of my first vertebrae, burning of my tonsils, and a dura patch placed. I did not notice an immediate relief of symptoms but months later my daily headaches turned into weekly headaches then monthly. I started experiencing the same headaches (pounding/heartbeat headaches, rushing sound in ears and intense pressure behind my eyes) about 5 months ago and got an MRI. The MRI showed that my brain and brain step had “fallen” into the big open space my surgeon created. My doctor put me on Diamox to reduce the production of CSF production to try to reduce the amount of “backup” pressure in my head. I had crazy side effects that did not subside including heart palpitations. I stopped taking Diamox about a month ago and my doctor wants to talk about another surgery. Has anyone had experiences similar to this or had a second surgery? I’ve heard of people getting shunts places to restore proper flow of CSF? What would another surgery entail? Is it worth it?
