Sharp pain in head

I am a college student and I am half way through my 2nd year. I am a healthy girl and I am in good physical shape. I have always been the type of person that can remember every a professor says. I have a photographic memory and and retain a lot of information I read. For the past couple of months I have been having these sharp pains in my head. They are located in the back of my head on the right side. It is not like a headache, more like a sharp pain that will come and go. Along with the pain, I have also had some memory loss. I can't remember things from last week. I can't remember what my professors told me two days ago in class. I am constantly confused on what day it is. It is really frustrating because I know I can remember this stuff but for some reason it is not sticking in my mind. My photographic memory is still pretty strong. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Am I blowing this out of proportation or should I go to the doctor? When it comes to my sight I am "legally blind" but I wear contacts that correct that. I don't think that my physical intensity level has gone down much. I just need a professional opinion as to whether or not I need to go to a doctor. Can someone please help me? Thank you so much!

This summer I got extremely dehydrated and I had to go to the doctor and almost got put in the hospital with an IV. This could be part of the problem. Thank you so much for your help. I will go to the doctor and get it checked out but you have eased my mind quite a bit. Also, I am a college student with a full load and a full time job so stress is a factor for sure. Thank you again for your help!

Hi,

A trip to the doctor is certainly warranted. Your symptoms could be simply due to anxiety and stress. Other causes like migraine, cluster headache and neuralgias also need to be ruled out.
It is also important for you to make sure you get your BP checked, eat your meals on time, drink plenty of water during the day to avoid dehydration and do some deep breathing exercises for self relaxation.

Hope this helps!
