What is the cause of the short term memory loss.  That sounds hard to deal with.  Working on any underlying condition may help the short term memory loss.  Head injury, too much stress, lack of sleep, depression/anxiety, drug use, and many other things.  https://www.healthline.com/health/short-term-memory-loss  AND  https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/7-common-causes-of-forgetfulness-201302225923  Have you had a doctor evaluation for the memory issue?  I would.  One of the biggest things you can do to help yourself is get organized.  Organize your home, vehicle and life.  Get note pads, write notes to yourself.  Get an alarm watch, like apple watch or something like that which will remind you to look at your notebook for your schedule of today's things you need to recall.  Write it all down.  Frequently look at it.  You need to walk over and get the tool bag?  Have a small notebook in your pocket and write "go to other truck and get tool bag and bring back"  Start walking.  If you forget what you are doing, look at your notebook.  Cross out what you've done when finished if it is a one off thing.  If it is be at work at 8 am, leave it on the list because that is recurring.  Do you do anything like that?
