Thorasic Outlet Syndrome

I am Sara Downey.  After four years of struggle with different types of tests such aas MRI, EMG, X-Rays and CT scan etc., with different physicaians in their respective speciality; I am finally diagnozed as having a n extra cervical vertebra which is typical of Thorasic Outlet Syndrome(TOS).  I already have the muscular atropy in my right hand thumb and the index finger.  I have three questions:
1.  Can my atropied muscles go back to normal if I decide to have a TOC surgery?
2.  I s there any specific physcial therapy or any equipment to use to seek a remedy before the surgery?
3.  Please provide me the names of surgeons in U.S. who had perform TOS surgery at least 100 times on patients.

This discussion is related to TOS Probles/questions.

Hello, My name is Jana and I am dealing with TOS also. I had the left cervical rib removed and haven't seen  any improvements.  The pain in my whole arm drives me crazy some days. Now my headaches have gotten worse its, everyday now, I feel like a big baby and people don't understand the pain.  Ive been taking Naproxen, lyrica nothing works anymore. I hope you really check into the surgery before you do it, cause I feel it was a waste of time and money.  If you have a questions or any suggestions please contact me. Hope all goes well with you!!!! Thanks, Jana

Hello, My name is Melody and I am dealing with TOS also. The TOS I have deals with nerves. I woke one morning with numbness in my pinky and ring finger after a blow to my head from my trunk. Then I started to have chest wall pain and occipital headaches on the right side above my ear and by my temple. I have been doing massage therapy with a wonderful woman who really knows her stuff. This along with some Ibprophen has really helped. My massage therapist also gave me some stretches to do that have helped. Some days my symptoms are worse than others but getting much better. I hope this helps you and I will answer any questions you may have. There is a Surgeon in OKC that is supposed to be the best if you have to resort to surgery!! Thanks, Mel
