What could be the cause of pinpricks concentrated in my hands and feet?

Hi,

I am a 22-year-old female. One day in October (about 7 months ago) I started having strange sensations in my feet. They kind of feel like small pinpricks, sometimes accompanied by hot/cold sensations. Over the next few weeks, I also started having them in my hands and other places all over my body (though mostly concentrated in my hands and feet). Sometimes i get a very bad stingy pain when i touch one of my fingertips lightly.

I have seen several neurologists. They suspected a sensory peripheral neuropathy at first, but my neurological exams and blood tests (glucose levels, vitamin levels, etc.) were normal (no loss of reflexes, no weakness), and I also had a skin biopsy that came back normal, so they came to the conclusion that my symptoms must be "functional". I find this hard to believe since there is no positive evidence for it, and they also seem unable to explain what it means exactly. I also think that there are no tests that can actually confirm this diagnosis. I know I am not feigning my symptoms and I'm having trouble sleeping because of the pain.

It seems worse at night. I have also started to develop small muscle twitches in my thighs and other parts of my legs. I was hoping I could gain some insight from people who have maybe experienced similar problems as to any further tests that I could ask for. Thanks
