Hello and welcome to MedHelp's forums. We are sure sorry to hear about your friend! That is terribly frightening. We're assuming she has not had an accident prior to the loss of feeling? Did this come on suddenly? More history would be helpful. Her doctors are her best source of information and hopefully she has someone with her in the Caribbean that can and IS asking a lot of questions.
Here is an older thread on medhelp that has some ideas to look into for her. https://
www.medhelp.org/posts/Neurology/Completely-Numb-from-the-waist-down--8-days-now-/show/489881 It ends rather abruptly without any conclusion but the diagnosis this man had was narrowing of a disc. There is mention on the thread of something called Transverse Myelitis. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/transverse-myelitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20354726 This is immflamation of the spinal chord that can also cause this type of issue.
What types of tests are her doctors doing and what are they telling her?
