What do these phrases from MRI report mean?

After several years, I am still being evaluated for multiple sclerosis. I have a remarkable family history on my maternal side (including mother and grandmother) and have signs and symptoms of MS. However, along with the other usual tests which came back negative, my MRIs show no lesions.

The most recent MRI states "increased T2 signal identified in the periventricular and subcortical white matter" and also the phrase "zones of terminal myelination".  I am somewhat knowledgable when it comes to medical terms, but am unsure as to exactly what these mean. I realize you cannot "interpret", but if you could give me an idea of what these refer to, I would appreciate it.  The doctors are now wondering if there is some other neurological thing going in (and if, in fact, my family members didn't really have MS but something that presented as such, before the time when MRIs were used in definitive dx). Thanks for your help in defining these things.

I did the same thing, TWICE, when I first posted on this forum...I was going back and forth between the two forums so quickly that I lost track of where I was!

I don't have an answer to your question, but I wanted to suggest that you repost your question on the MS forum.  They are a great group of knowledgeable people; some have been diagnosed with MS, some are still seeking a diagnosis.  I'm sure they could be quite helpful.
